How do you set up a loyalty program in a pet shop?
In a pet shop the food bag sets the rhythm: when it runs out the customer comes back, usually every three to four weeks. The job of a pet shop loyalty card is to make sure the next bag is not bought somewhere else. Points by amount, a reachable first reward and a short nudge to anyone who is late are enough for that.
How many purchases for free pet food?
If your customer buys food once a month, a 10-purchase target takes almost a year. Keep the reward reachable within three to four months and add a small reward along the way.
Example (all numbers are examples only): a cat owner might spend ₺900 a month, the owner of a large dog ₺2,500. A stamp card rewards both the same; a points card giving 1 point per ₺10 is fairer. Set a pack of treats at 300 points and a bag of food or a leash at 800.
Count the reward at your purchase price, not the shelf price. To fit the numbers to your shop, see the ROI guide.
Campaign ideas for pet shops
- Food may be running low: a customer who has not come in for a while gets a short lock-screen note ("Haven't seen you in a while, the food may be running low. Your points are still on your card"). For example after four to five weeks, once their usual gap has passed.
- Refer a friend: bonus points for customers who bring a neighbour or friend with a newly adopted pet, so the food habit starts with you from day one.
- New product announcement: when a new food brand or toy arrives, send a scheduled campaign.
- Quiet day: if you use a stamp card, set double stamps on a quiet weekday to spread out the weekend crowd.
- Welcome bonus: someone who just adopted a pet opens the card on their first purchase and gets bonus points. Automated campaigns and bonuses are in the Growth and Pro plans.
The flow at the till and the clinic desk
Pet shop customers usually have their hands full with a leash or a food bag. Put the QR at eye level so they add the card easily; for stamps or points, staff scan the card's QR at the till. In a vet clinic the same flow runs at reception.
- Put the A4 poster next to the food shelf and the QR table card at the till.
- Give staff one line: "Add the card and every food purchase earns points."
- Staff who carry a heavy bag to the car can scan the card there too.
- Open separate staff accounts for the till, reception and stockroom; the dashboard shows who did how many.

FAQ
Frequently asked
What about customers with more than one pet?
One card is enough; all their purchases go on the same card.
Points or stamps?
If basket sizes vary, a points card is fairer.
Does the system know when a customer's food runs out?
No. The system only knows the date of the last visit. The win-back campaign goes to customers who have not come in for a while, so word the message gently with "may be running low".
What does a vet clinic use the card for?
To collect points on food, accessories and care products sold at the clinic, and to say "we haven't seen you in a while" to customers who have been away. The card gives no medical advice; treatment and check-ups stay between the vet and the owner. Campaigns only go to people who gave messaging consent, see the KVKK guide.
Does my customer need to download an app?
No. The customer scans the QR with the phone camera and the card is added straight to Apple Wallet. On Android it opens as a saveable page in the browser.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
On iPhone the card goes into Apple Wallet. On Android it works as a saveable browser page (stamping by QR is the same). On both, the phone's own camera reads the QR.
