How do you set up a loyalty program in a barbershop?

A barber loyalty card works with the rhythm your customers already have: most come in every 3–5 weeks. Set the target to match that rhythm and the card fills in a few months, and a half-full card keeps the customer from trying the shop down the street. Below you will find the target, campaigns and the flow at the chair.

How many cuts for a free cut?

Start from the customer's cycle. Someone who comes every four weeks visits about 13 times a year. A target of 5–6 cuts gives that customer a reward every five to six months. A longer target pushes the reward to once a year, and the card gets forgotten.

Example (all numbers are examples only): if a cut is ₺400 and the 6th is free, you give back one cut from ₺2,400 in sales. If the reward is a beard trim or a wash instead of a full cut, you spend less time at the chair. Run your own numbers in the ROI guide.

Campaign ideas for barbers

  • Win-back: a customer whose last cut was six weeks ago gets a short lock-screen note ("Your chair is waiting, your stamps are still on your card").
  • Weekday morning double stamps: Saturdays are full anyway. Set double stamps for quiet hours such as Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 am to 1 pm.
  • Refer a friend: a customer who brings a father or friend gets a bonus stamp, and the newcomer gets their own card.
  • Halfway reward: a free brow or neckline tidy at the 3rd cut, a free cut at the 6th. The card stays interesting in the middle.
  • Stamp expiry: give stamps a 12-month expiry. A customer who comes every five weeks finishes the card easily, and cards of customers gone for a year do not stay open. Bonuses and automated campaigns are in the Growth and Pro plans.

The flow at the chair and the till

Customers add the card while they wait: they scan the QR next to the waiting seat with the phone camera, and the card lands in Apple Wallet. After the cut, the barber scans the card's QR and the stamp is recorded.

  1. Put the QR sticker on the edge of the mirror and the A4 poster in the waiting area. That is where customers look at their phones most.
  2. Give each barber one line: "Add the card, your sixth cut is on us."
  3. Open a staff account for every barber (Starter 2, Growth 10, Pro 50 staff). The dashboard shows who gave how many stamps.
  4. Stamp before payment. Chatting at the till is when stamps get forgotten.

FAQ

Frequently asked

After how many cuts should I give a reward?

5–6 visits is common for barbers. The wizard suggests a number based on your basket.

Do beard and hair count separately?

You decide. You can give a separate stamp for each service if you like.

My customers have half-full paper cards. What do I do with them?

When a customer brings a paper card, add the same number of stamps to the digital card by hand and keep the paper. With monthly regulars, most cards pass through your hands within a few months. Set an end date and accept only the digital card after that. Details are in the paper-to-digital guide.

Does a customer lose stamps if they switch barbers?

No. The card belongs to the customer, so whichever barber in the shop scans it, the stamp goes on the same card. Per-barber accounts only show you who gave how many stamps.

I also offer hair and beauty services. Can I use the same card?

If prices vary a lot, a points card is fairer than stamps. See examples on the hair and beauty salon page.

Does my customer need to download an app?

No. The customer scans the QR with the phone camera and the card is added straight to Apple Wallet. On Android it opens as a saveable page in the browser.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

On iPhone the card goes into Apple Wallet. On Android it works as a saveable browser page (stamping by QR is the same). On both, the phone's own camera reads the QR.
