How do you set up a loyalty program in a grocery store?
Neighbourhood grocery customers come often but buy a little at a time. That is why points by amount instead of stamps, a tier for regulars and a weekly deals announcement work best here. Below is how to set them up.
How many points for a voucher?
A grocery basket ranges from ₺40 of bread and milk to a ₺2,000 weekly shop. A stamp treats both the same; a points card rewards each customer for what they spend.
Example (all numbers are examples only): give 1 point per ₺10 and put a ₺100 shopping voucher at 500 points. A family spending ₺1,200 a week gets the voucher in about a month, which is 2 percent of their spending back. If your margin is thin, adjust the rate; the calculation is in the ROI guide.
Set an expiry on points, for example 6 months. That way points on forgotten cards do not become a surprise cost one day, and customers come back to spend them.
Campaign ideas for grocery stores
- Weekly deals: each week, schedule a campaign for Thursday evening ("Discounts on fruit and veg this weekend"), with a coupon if you like. One message a week means 4–5 campaigns a month, which needs the Growth or Pro plan; Starter includes 2 manual campaigns a month.
- Tier card: customers whose total points reach a set level move up from Silver to Gold; give Gold customers a bigger reward or a perk. Neighbourhood regulars notice.
- Fresh in: when deli cheese, village eggs or seasonal fruit arrive, send a new product announcement.
- Quiet hours: if 2 to 4 pm is empty, set double points for those hours.
- Win-back: customers who have not come in for two or three weeks get a short lock-screen note ("Your points are waiting on your card").
The flow at the till
The grocery till is quick and the queue is waiting. Customers add the card in the queue or by scanning the poster at the entrance; at payment the cashier scans the card's QR and points are added by purchase amount.
- Put the sticker on the front of the checkout and on the door, and hang the A4 poster at the entrance and the deli counter.
- Give the cashier one line: "Our store card lives in Wallet, and every shop earns points."
- If you use a paper points book or old cards, switch using the steps in the paper-to-digital guide.
- Open a separate staff account for each cashier. The dashboard shows who handled how many transactions at which till.

FAQ
Frequently asked
Does it connect to my POS?
There is no ready-made POS integration. You can connect your own till software with the API on the Pro plan (development work needed). On other plans, scanning the QR is enough.
How are points calculated on small purchases?
You set the points rate per amount spent.
Should I choose a points card or a tier card?
Start with a points card; it is the easiest for most customers to understand. If you have a core group doing large shops regularly, a tier card can give them their own status and a bigger reward.
Will customers mind when points expire?
Usually not, if you state the period clearly from the start. Pick a reasonable period such as 6–12 months and mention it on the poster at the till too. An occasional "Don't forget your points" campaign brings customers back to spend their points.
Does my customer need to download an app?
No. The customer scans the QR with the phone camera and the card is added straight to Apple Wallet. On Android it opens as a saveable page in the browser.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
On iPhone the card goes into Apple Wallet. On Android it works as a saveable browser page (stamping by QR is the same). On both, the phone's own camera reads the QR.
