Frequently asked questions
Which phones can scan a Wi-Fi QR code?
On iPhone (iOS 11+) and Android 10+ the camera app reads the code and offers to join the network. Older Android versions may need a QR reader app.
How do I pick the security type?
Most modern networks use WPA/WPA2/WPA3; choose that if unsure. WEP is outdated and insecure, only for very old devices. Pick "No password" for an open guest network.
Is my password safe?
Yes. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser; your network name and password are never sent to or stored on a server. Remember that printing the QR where everyone can see it shares the password with everyone: use a guest network.
What is a hidden network?
A network that does not broadcast its name. The code has to say so for phones to connect; tick "Hidden network" and the code is generated accordingly.
